Bachelor's Special by Christine Warner {Guest Post, Review & Giveaway}

Saute, simmer, and flambé…

Jill Adgate wants three things from life: a successful catering business, the devoted love of an exceptional man, and a family. What she has is no job, a mounting pile of bills, and her outspoken best friend—who sets her up on a blind date with the man who inadvertently ruined Jill’s life.

Chet Castle is a prosperous businessman who has everything, except the ability to trust. Burned by a money-hungry fiancée, he refuses to get involved with any relationship that has a shelf life longer than a head of lettuce.

Intrigued by her ambition—and determined to get her in bed—Chet offers Jill the chance of a lifetime: Work for him for the next eight weeks as his live-in chef and he’ll help her get her catering business off the ground. When sparks fly in the kitchen, Jill realizes what’s cooking with her commitment-phobic employer is a recipe for disaster…but it’s just too tasty to not take a bite.

He tossed the towel on the counter. “I’m attracted to you, and after that zipper-popping kiss, I’m going to assume the feeling’s mutual.”

“That’s neither here nor there. I don’t mess around with someone I work with and definitely not someone I work for.” Jill jumped off the counter and pushed past him. She feared she’d combust from the friction of her heartbeat working against the rush of heated blood in her veins.

“I really don’t fall into either category. We don’t work together, and I’m far from your boss.” His voice held a tinge of humor laced with steel. “This is strictly a business arrangement.”

“That might be worse.”

He moved toward her. “Jill—”

“I’m tired of men assuming because I’m a woman, because of the way I look, that I’m open to a sexual relationship with them to get ahead.”

“What are you talking about? Who said anything about getting ahead?” He brushed his hand through his hair, confusion littering his face.

“Is this the payback you’re expecting? You offer to help me with my catering business, even so far as co-signing for a loan, and all I have to do is lay back, close my eyes, and grit my teeth while
you have your way with me?”

A vein hammered along the side of his neck. “I seriously doubt you’ll be gritting your teeth, unless it’s to stop yourself from screaming my name.”

The Guest Post

Today I want to have a little BACHELOR’S SPECIAL character dictionary fun. That’s right, I’m going lay out the main characters that appear in BACHELOR’S SPECIAL and give you a little bit of info about them. This isn’t the complete cast, but a wonderful mix J. Are you ready?

Chet Castle: He’s a hot, sexy, businessman who has trust issues due to a scheming, money- hungry ex. He’s a man who respects others no matter what has happened in their life and loves his grandma, will rescue a stray, and help the homeless. He’s the entire package. But will he allow his attraction to Jill—who is now his live in chef—to unfold into something more?

Jill Adgate: She’s a down on her luck chef who speaks her mind, but with a big heart. Her life hasn’t always been easy, but she’s not one to whine. She is a take charge girl and the more she encounters on her journey the stronger she becomes. But one thing always holds steadfast. Jill wants three things from life— a successful catering business, a family, and the love of an exceptional man. Will she be able to resist Chet’s charms and think of him as her boss…and if she can’t, will she succeed in helping him learn to love?

Melody (Mel) Butler: Jill’s ditzy best friend who speaks before she thinks. She means well, but that doesn’t always translate into the words that come out of her mouth. Will she hinder the feelings forming between Chet and Jill with her chatter? Or will she save the day?

Jared Castle: Chet’s little brother who is engaged to Mel. He loves his fiancée and his humor gets him through some of her tongue in cheek moments. Is he for or against a relationship between his brother and Jill?

Gina: We’ll keep this one easy. Scheming, money-hungry ex should about sum her up. Lol What will she do to try and come between Chet and Jill?

The WRW Book Review

What a great book to read on a cool Fall weekend. This book has it all - Humor, romance, a quirky heroine and a hottie hero! You definitely won't need the furnace on, because this book generates a lot of heat!

In Bachelor's Special Christine Warner's heroine, Jill Adgate is a talented chef who loves the look of 50's vintage clothes. The hero, Chet Castle is a successful, dyed-in-the-wool bachelor who has sworn off commitment, that is until he meets his match in Jill.

The sexual tension between Jill and Chet is there in the story right on the first page and it only gets better as you read the book. Christine Warner's writing is at it's best here. She's a master at the humorous situation (as has been proven in her previous books), and there's A LOT of humor throughout the story, some of which had me laughing out loud. The beginning of Bachelor's Special is hilarious, reminiscent of I Love Lucy, and not soon-to-be-forgotten.

Bachelor's Special is a WRW recommendation for an exceptional read, and we're going to give it a 5 Star WRW Review!
